I must be blind, ‘cause I can’t see What it the world it is I’m supposed to be All your life, they try to pigeonhole you And it doesn’t seem to stop when you get old And I tried and I tried and I tried and I tried what you told me But I must have got it wrong somehow And I searched and I searched and I searched and I searched for that they sold me But it seems there’d been a mix up at the store “It looks like we don’t make those anymore You must have read the news and know the score, You’ll never get beyond revolving doors…” “…you won’t fit in You’ll go round and round and round and never up or down. You may be free, but you’re in a cage You’re nothing but the meat that feeds the modern age.” Well I tried and I tried and I tried and I tried what you told me And I won’t waste my time with regrets. I’ve burned the book of rules that life has taught me Now you hear me breaking down the door. You won’t find me so easy to ignore You can bang your riot shields and change the law But there’s nothing wrong with wanting something more When black and white becomes a thousand shades of grey It’s no surprise when people lose their way. When black and white becomes a thousand shades of grey It’s no surprise when people lose their way. Are you like me? Do you dream of something better than climbing up this tree? And can you see That everybody loses when you buy one get one free? Are you standing up face down? Hearing footsteps all around? Did they empty all your pockets when they knocked you down? Are you standing up face down? Hearing footsteps all around? Are you standing up face down?

Hello my old friend Were you there when I called? Good to hear you're on the mend Though the news was second-hand. Don't say you're sorry, for hiding away. I hope you didn't think we'd look the other way. You make it sound like you're ashamed, of who you have become. But to us you're still the same, you're still the same. We all get it wrong sometimes Waste our time with regrets. Hang your conscience out to dry Find another thing to try. But why the solitude? The constant grey. The absent message to "come back another day". It's not like you to be afraid, of something we might say. Is that why you stayed away? You stayed away. Hello my old friend Was it you I just saw? Walking just beyond the sand... Did I make believe you raised your hand? But when I draw my breath and turn to call I look again and it turns out it's not you after all. Are you somewhere overseas? Have you even changed your name? I hope we'll meet again one day, one day.
